OUR PRICING

Like all wreckers and dismantlers pricing of used parts in based on supply and demand. Parts that have a high demand are given a higher price in relation to their new cost than parts of low demand which are given a lower price in relation to their new cost. Price too high and we are left with stock on the shelf (and lose customers) while if we price too low there will not be enough money to purchase stock. (damaged vehicles are expensive) It is a fine line to price components at a level not too high / not too low plus keep our customers satisfied and happy with there purchase from us.

Things like discounted new parts , generic branded / copy parts , reconditioned parts and imported used parts as well as labour to remove the part and cost of storing the part all have a bearing on final costing.
New part prices are marked up in such a way as any discounting is shared between you the customer and our selves. We are continually trying to source the best value parts so a greater saving can be given to our customers. You as customers quite rightly demand value for money and have many options as to whom to purchase from. It is our endeavour at Rodeo Wreckers to satisfy our customers and have you come back to us for your next purchase.

GENERIC BRANDED PARTS.

Two common question we get asked are "What is a Generic part ? And "How can a new part be cheaper than a used part? Generic branded parts are parts that are not manufactured or sold by the car company (In our case GMH /Isuzu) and are some times referred to as alternative parts or copy parts.
While most people are aware that Generic branded filters, plugs, windscreen rubbers, bulbs etc are readily available at stores like Autobarn etc not everyone is aware that windscreen replacement stores such as windscreens O'Brien. Radiator repairers and the many Brake specialist around Australia all use Generic branded parts.
All engine recondioners use Generic branded parts in reconditioned engines as do many Transmission Specialists. What many people out side the Automotive industry do not realize is the extensive range of Generic parts available. HEADLIGHTS,TAILIGHTS GAURDS,DOORS,BUMPERS,RADIO ARIAL,CYLINDER HEAD,STARTERS,WATERPUMPS, RADIATORS EVEN COMPLETE GENERIC BRAND ENGINES ARE NOW COMPETING WITH RECONDITIONED ENGINES. Plus many more parts. The majority of these Generic branded parts are sold through the wrecking industry.

Pricing these has sometimes created a dilemma for business owners as in the majority of cases Generic branded parts are much cheaper than car manufacturer branded parts (known as OEM Parts) and in many cases less than what is a reasonable price for a used part. Lets look at a small example.
We will take a guard flasher off a 2007 RA Rodeo which has dealer list price of $84.50 plus gst which equals a full retail cost of $92.95 As these are near the front of the Rodeo and seem to break or go missing there is a reasonable demand for these. We feel that a 60% discount off new price ( i.e. 40% of new price is $36) is a reasonable request. We now take a generic brand guard flasher and after applying our normal % mark up we sell these for $4.00 Do they fit? Do they look the same? Good questions and the answer is they fit perfectly and a normal person with 20/20 vision could not tell them apart.
Most people see a problem with a new part being either $92.50 or $4.00 and this example is one of the higher percentage differences. The other problem is how can we now sell a good used flasher for $36 when a new one is available for $4.00 The point here is if something costs $92.50 we feel that $36 for a used part in excellent condition is a reasonable price. Insurance companies due to mainly marketing politics will only use New or used OEM parts. You always get some people for a variety of reasons want to only put OEM on their vehicle. Just as some people insist on new parts on their car and will not use used even though five miles down the road their new part has become a used part no different to the used part they refused to buy.

At Rodeo wreckers its our task to look after all our customers so if you only want a brand OEM new part on your car we can supply you one at the discounted price of $81.00 if you only want OEM parts on your car but do not mind a used part IN as new condition then our price is $36.00 if you are looking at maximising your saving and value for money a generic part from us will cost you $4.00 Naturally not all parts are like to example above. Sometimes the different in costs is much closer and sometimes generic parts can be dearer than used parts. Our point was rather to show you that in many cases you do have a choice. WE WANT TO GIVE YOU CHOICE ON RODEO COLORADO AND DMAX PARTS
This brings us to your choice of colour.

COLOUR CODING

Colour Coding applies to an innovative customer service that we will be rolling out thought out 2011 Listening to our customers we find we get many requests for panels, bumpers, grilles etc to be in the same colour as their vehicle. Panel beaters, insurance companies and customers who are going to paint a substantial or all of their vehicle will not be interested in this and we will continue to offer them used or new parts as usual.
How ever for those who do not have access to a spray painter and would like to save both time and money we can offer the following. Where possible the used part in the same colour code as your vehicle or a new generic part freshly painted t your vehicles colour.
Colour coding is currently not offered by GMH / Isuzu or any of our competitors. There will be extra costs involved but we believe many of our customers will be willing to pay a premium for this service.

How will it work? For new generic parts we will charge a higher cost to cover us getting the part painted. We hope to have painted panels available off the shelf. As any one that has tried to get a small item such as a guard flare or bumper end painted no body wants to do the job for any thing less than hundreds of dollars. Require a bonnet or guard painted and either one will cost you three or four hundred dollars. As we will get a number painted at the same time the cost should be less meaning a saving for you When it comes to used parts it is a little different as the part is already painted. it is our intention to redesign our warehouse and inventory system so that we maximise the ability to give you the used part in the colour you want.

Any one wanting to purchase say a bonnet from us will be given the bonnet that is the colour that maximises the chance of our remaining stock to be able supply a colour coded request. To most the colour of the part is unimportant as long as the quality and condition is fine. By this method some customers will get the colour the require with out requesting it. When you request a used part that is normally painted just ask our salesman what colour it is. If it is the colour you wanted you pay our normal price and we have another happy customer. However if it is not the colour you wanted then ask if we have any of your colour in stock in our colour coding program and hopefully we can supply the correct one for you.

To give you some understanding of the inventory requirements needed we give the following figures. Example Rodeo 2004 model has 4 different guards depending 2WD /4WD/Flare type and with or with out repeater. As there are two sides left and right a dealer would require eight guards to service any requests. As we endeavour to supply New, generic and used this would require twenty four guards in stock. If we then try to stock a painted generic and used guard in all of the seven colour codes in this model the number explodes to

Giving a whopping total of 128 Guards and that's only for one model and no double ups.

SAVE MONEY AND AVOID SCAMS

Most in the Automotive trade are honest, hard working and supply a quality service. Most businesses will purchase the parts required for your repairs that you need and traditionally charge the small difference between trade and retail pricing as their commission. This is reasonable as considerable time can be spent on the phone, checking invoices etc. If they are purchasing used or generic parts a small commission for sourcing the parts is also reasonable. The bulk of their money comes through their labour and hopefully having you as a repeat customer. There are however a small number of dodgy operators who do the some or all of the following.
Purchase a used part for their customers but instead of a small mark-up may mark up the part by a huge % sometimes doubling or tripling the price or in large purchases such as engines or gearboxes by hundreds of dollars.

Telling you they can get a discount then giving you the small discount off a Brand new OEM part then installing a Generic part that cost them heaps less.
Pricing you on a Brand new part but installing a Generic Part. This is down right theft.

Some operators of used parts have even been known to take generic lights and wipe them over with a small amount of oil, then blow dust over and lightly roughen them up so they can sell them as used (higher price) rather than generic (lower price).

Likewise some panel shops can be fast o paint a panel making it nearly impossible to tell new OEM from new Generic.

The best way to avoid these practices is to obtain and supply your own parts or at least discuss with the repairer exactly what type of parts they are going to supply and what their costs are.

Small parts are usually sent express mail but overnight airbags are available to Melbourne , Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart, Brisbane and Perth. Please note that on any parts sold on a changeover basis incoming freight is the customers responsibility.
We must point out that for changeovers and or any returns it is quite acceptable and even prudent to use the cheapest and most likely slower form of freight.

Where ever possible we will endeavour to supply you with a quality recycled part Purchasing a used part not only saves the energy and green house gases required to manufacture a new part but also the energy required to freight the new part from Japan If no one was to purchase for reuse the quality used part you require the most likely scenario is that the part would be recycled for its material. This requires us using the energy to freight it to a recycling plant , the recycling plant using more energy to break it down and then more energy to freight the material to Japan who will use much more energy to manufacture product from it.
As you can see the reuse of second hand parts being green and helping the environment.
